Donor Trip to DSW Country Office and Projects

German private donors went on a trip to Uganda to explore how DSW implements sexual reproductive health education in the country. The group was welcomed by DSW’s Uganda country office team at the BONITA training centre in Kampala and visited several project sites and partner organisations in rural and urban areas. Young people from a Youth Club in Nakaseke District informed their guests about their peer education activities and reported on their achievements and challenges. The group from Germany was impressed by the work DSW is carrying out in Uganda. In addition to the field visits, the guests had the opportunity to talk to the German Ambassador in Uganda and the Minister of Health of the Buganda Kingdom.

Activities were a public dialogue with women parliamentarians and students, a youth club drama competition, and demonstration of contraception methods. The highlight of the event was a girl’s football match after which information and consultation about family planning and contraception methods were offered.
